You'll be there with guns and goofy ribbons in your hair.

The Nolls were in town escaping the great Tulsa blackout. I painted myself a Big Boys skateboard. I've been trying really hard to win the semi-rare "fun, fun, fun" Big Boys single on ebay lately and lose everytime. Last night I battled it out with some other guy all the way up to 65.00 dollars and lost. Again.

Hot dog.

I like the one in the middle. I think the rest are already sold. The PC kids are really coming through this x-mas. Thanks, dudes.

Expirementing with wheels. They're too small for my liking, but seem like legit wheels. Anyone ride 53s?

I'm so glad to be pen-pals with Chuck Ivey from Debris'. He sent me these along with some stamps in exchange for a bunch of Shark Baits. It's nice to stay friends with people even after an interview is over. Also got another postcard from Ian MacKaye last week. I love this stuff....

Skater owned and trife as hell.

Lou let me take a million photos of her sitting still in the natural light yeserday.

We're getting married! Probably sometime in May. See the coat she's wearing? Well, she's wanted it forever and I finally bought it (right after purchasing the engagement ring) and put the ring in the pocket. She came home from work and I surprised her with the coat saying it was an early x-mas present. After some coaxing ("is there anything in the pockets?"), she eventually found the ring, I proposed, and she said "yes". I'm a total dork, but a happy one.

I'm your man.

Jiz and I have this new bro named Reggie who basically has an underground record store in his shed. Everything is categorized and in alphabetical order and he has everything he owns memorized. I got all this stuff for 30 bucks! Original pressing of "london calling" and a Strawberry Alarm Clock record?
Killer sunset this evening on the way home from work...

How emo is a sunset shot in black and white? It was an accident, but I like it.

Killer mail day! Carbonas record from Goner and two copies of Friz' limited 'zine. I think he's just making them for family and tight pals.

I painted this super 80's board yesterday. What can I say- the young dudes dig the femme colors....

Don't forget to tell your mom your gothic.

I hadn't really hung out with my friend Grant in ten years. He hung out a couple days this week, and it was really fun and interesting and inspiring. The past nine years he's been working on his Ph D in Physics at Yale and Stanford. It was so rad to see he'd still been skating and was pretty much the same funny dude I'd known years before. Skateboarding is fucking awesome.
Took Grant to the ditch and Zac was already there by himself shredding in the cold. I like that.

Mr. Biederman doing "the hunch" on a new rock someone put at the top of the ditch....

Two generations. Have I told you how much the sunset rules at this spot?

Squares make the world go round

Poplar Ave distribution is coming in hot with new crap.
These will be printed up next week......

Some new psychedelic boards for the weird kids.....
(ps- I'm not really pretending to have a "distribution", that's just the street we live on and where this crap gets made.)

Snark brigade

Finally got to see The Evens.
Ian talked a lot in between songs and made everyone laugh and occasionally sing along.

Trip out on this.

I waited patiently in line for him to get done selling records and sign autographs and said, holding the last Shark Bait with an article about him in it, "Did you see this yet?" "Oh, you're Brad. I read your snarky article in here and it reminded me to send that interview to you. Did you get it?" It was a really funny and exciting moment and I'm glad Megan had the camera ready to take this picture. I don't think it would be possible for me to smile any bigger or cheesier than this.

OKC was pretty empty in the morning.

Ass shot of a pivot fakie. Did you notice this is my favorite trick?

Bricktown is super corny, but we were close by and figured we'd go see all the other white people and get something to eat. We've been talking about how corny white people are lately. "We're white and probably corny, but at least we know it!"

I honestly didn't think the whole "Flaming Lips alley" thing was real. Corndogs.

King Kahn and BBQ Show!

These guys are so fucking awesome. The drummer has a bass and snare drum that he plays with his feet with bass drum pedals- and sings and plays rhythm guitar at the same time.

Worst dude ever. This guy made it a point to touch or get in every single person's face in attendance. He was fucking with King Kahn's mike stand and was eventually told "Don't touch me, Carrot Top. I WILL kick you in the face."

Killing it...........

You're walking on quicksand. Walk slow.

2 Headed Phantom from Tulsa.... Between the weird girls on stage for no reason, capes, and fake blood and shit I forgot if this band was good or not. Sorry.

Sex Advice from Austin.... Reminded me of The Descendents with serious lyrical content. That could be taken good or bad, but I liked them.

Jay Reatard with the band Boston Chinks as back up. (They're also really good)

More Reatard- check out http://jayreatard.blogspot.com/ for more about these guys and some free songs.

Their set lasted 30 minutes tops. He played the new album (Blood Visions) almost entirely and then bailed. Check him and the Boston Chinks if you get the chance....

King Kahn and BBQ Show this Saturday also at The Conservatory!
The Evens Friday night at 8:00 at the City Arts Center (3000 General Pershing Blvd., OKC)
Now that the weather is starting to suck, at least good shows are coming around....

Never been to Spain

I managed to get in some good sessions last week. Brian McNair pivot fakie on the extension. Trying to get arty and it didn't really work out too well. This would be a gnarly trick for anyone else, but it's basically first try shit for him.

Raven- bigspin.

Trusty old Blake Crawford with a fakie 360 flip over the hip.

Matt- fakie flip. Pocketful of rainbows.

We're OK.

Release but never dispose thyself...

This is an amazing out of print (even the re-issues are gone) record that was made in Oklahoma in the mid 70's. I just got done interviewing one of the members (Chuck Ivey) for Shark Bait and told him I couldn't order the record because it was sold out and he was kind enough to send me one from his stash. (free and autographed!) It was a super fun interview to be a part of and I think fans of weird, raw rock-n-roll will get a kick out of it. I've started putting the new issue together and it'll be out sometime in November.
Ps- you can still get the cd with bonus tracks at http://anophelesrecords.com/

she watch channel zero

For better or worse, it looks like this is the park we're getting here in Ponca City. Once I knew 100% that we WEREN'T getting a concrete park, I did at least ask my pal Travis (organization president) to please get a mini-ramp. He came through on that and the surface may even be Skat-lite, which is the better of the three (the other two being- metal and that evil, plastic black shit). Who knows when this will actually be here, but it looks like we really will have a park finally.
